Metaline Falls - Steeped in History, Surrounded by Nature

Featured properties

The Lewis P. Larsen House, known locally as the Rock House of Metaline Falls, is an architectural treasure of the Pacific Northwest.  This one-of-a-kind home was built by Kirtland Cutter, one of the most influential and innovative architects of the 20th century.  The Rock House offers 3000 square feet of stunning original craftsmanship and underwent a multi-year restoration by local  artisans in 2021-2022 to bring back its kitchen and bathroom to a period configuration.

The Rock House sits on a scenic bend of the Pend Oreille River only 9 miles south of the U.S.-Canada border, an area entirely surrounded by national forest, crystal-clear alpine lakes, trout streams, and hiking trails. Metaline Falls may look familiar - it has been the setting for Hollywood films as a result of the unspoiled natural beauty and hosts 6 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places.  No matter the season, the Rock House offers an unforgettable stay in one of North America's most historic homes.
